Parallel 44 first produced Bubbler in 2014. Maria has always been a sparkling wine fan, dedicated to convincing others that sparkling wine should be for everyday consumption and not saved for holidays and special occasions. Steve felt that the Upper Midwest could be known for sparkling wine production, since the traditional Champagne regions are generally cooler summers and shorter growing seasons, similar to ours, and therefore produce fruit that is more conducive to sparkling wines due to their higher acidity and lower sugars.
With the goal of producing an award winning regional sparkling wine, Steve finally gave in to Maria’s nagging desire for a sparkling wine and created Bubbler.
The first vintage of Bubbler, was made primarily from a blend of Frontenac Gris and La Crescent, both sourced from Wisconsin vineyards that we contract with. The name Bubbler is a play on the Wisconsin use of the term bubbler in reference to a drinking fountain. (Bubbler was a term first used by the Kohler Company in reference to a drinking fountain it produced. The term caught on and became a Wisconsin tradition.)
This semi-sweet, fruity and balanced effervescent wine is uniquely Wisconsin, just like the word “Bubbler.” If you are a sparkling wine lover, Bubbler is sure to become your new favorite with its tropical fruit and citrus notes.
